r I t : u a l  - ceremony consisting of a series of actions performed according to a prescribed order

Rachelle work is inspired by the practical, the simple and the uncomplicated beauty of objects designed  to accompany our daily rituals; the first cup of coffee of the day brewed in quiet contemplation, burning incense to clear a space or a beautiful wrap to keep the chills at bay. Rachelle creates simple pieces from clay or fabric to complement and give honour to these snippets of your day.

Rachelle has worked with and explored various mediums throughout her long career as an artist. After a recent break to write and publish 3 books Rachelle has returned to designing and making which is where her heart is truly happy.

Paper, Fabric and Print have been Rachelle's primary mediums in past work but clay has always wandered along on the sidelines but has now indeed taken centre stage.

Each piece is handbuilt either pinching the clay, coiling or using a plaster mould. Uneven edges, slightly out of kilter shapes, marks of Rachelle fingers, impressions of stitches are all part of the finished piece.
Worked in robust stoneware clay make these items suitable for daily use and these are indeed objects that should find there way into your daily rituals.
